Joseph Gillott Drawing Nibs
The Joseph Gillott Pointed Drawing Nibs are available in Various sizes.
303 Nib - most commonly used nib for Copperplate. It is sharply pointed and flexible. Produces elegant hairlines. Suitable for small to medium height Copperplate.
170 Nib - this is smaller than the Gillott 404 and 303 nibs. It is very flexible and smooth, capable of producing thick swells. Great for small to medium Copperplate.
404 Nib - provides a fine hairline but is not as fragile as the 303 and 170 size nibs.
1290 Nib - supple and sensitive
1950 Nib - small point with limited flexibility.
290 Nib - small and very delicate. Produces very fine hair lines and can be used for touching up work. Can easily be damaged. Suitable for very small x-heights.
291 Nib - similar to the 290 but slightly stronger and more durable. Suitable for very small x-heights.
Before first use, it is best to soak the nibs in boiling water to remove it's protective coating.
For best results use on smooth paper or board.
Wash with warm soapy water and dry well before use.
